Sixty-four years old, with silver hair in an elaborate arrangement, impeccable taste and a piece of jewellery too expensive to be noticed except by those who know how to look. A widowed countess, her palace hosts the most important salons in the city every Friday evening: musicians, writers, philosophers, artists and anyone with something interesting to say. Nobody knows whose side she is really on.
