13. The road north

Date: 21 Abadius 4735 AR (5 months and 11 days since the fall of Mistreach)

The group meets Raigo, Makoto and Vess, and they exchange information about their respective missions. Makoto gives Alrik another piece of the song “in waiting”, the final piece.

The two groups agree that taking different roads is the best option, so the Tians decide to wait for the end of winter in Kintargo. Before they part, Vess notices the friendship bracelet that Samira gave to Sigurd, Astrid and Freya and, saying he is an old travelling companion of Samira’s, asks them to tell him how they met. They receive William’s invitation but choose to ignore it, so they set off on foot on the road to Oprak; on reaching Thrune’s Chance they almost kill one of the dragoons stationed there, before taking refuge in the forest.

The mysterious presence that has been following the Winter Wolves from the shadows is spotted again by Freya, reminding the Ulfar of the urgency and danger of their mission.

Supplies are running low, so Alrik decides to go back to the village to try to bargain with one of the farmers, getting enough food to feed the group for a day.
